I recently ran across an admonition to read obituaries, if for no other reason than because they show you no life takes a straight path. A handy reminder for those of us who may think we've lived a particularly convoluted life and that for some reason that is not the norm. No, the norm is not to map out your destiny and stick to the plan. The norm is to be bumped off the path time and time again.
